Blondes

Post by darwinohm »

I took a picture outside in the sun today. The G&L is a bit of a more vintage white. If only it had gold hardware it would as good as it gets. It is pictured with my Mary Kaye on the right. Blondes are special- no doubt!-- Darwin :luv:

Looks good Darwin, I agree G&L should offer gold and black hardware :D Would love black hardware on my ASAT, a black control plate and bridge is what sets me back though, I could get knobs and tuners.

That is a fantastic Commanche and a Lefty to boot! How do you like the Z-Coils? I have an ASAT Z-3 chambered with the f hole and it is sweet.-- Darwin

I like the Z coils - They give the guitar some very unique tones. 8-)

Nice pair Darwin! And for all that have always wondered what the differences are between Fender and G&L instruments, your picture nicely show that:
  1. ... the G&L necks have a larger, or more accurately longer, headstock. Which is why a Fender case may not always work for a G&L.
  2. ... the Legacy has larger pickups, at least judging by the covers.
  3. ... the Legacy has a slightly different control layout where they spread out more to the rear compared to a Strat.
  4. ... the difference in control layout also causes the pickguards to be different with incompatible hole positions especially close to the output jack.
Just nice to see that clearly demonstrated in an A/B comparison.

The headstock difference is likely exagerrated in that picture Jos, they are sitting at different angles, not to mention the G&L seems to have more length behind the bridge.

My next G&L will have a maple neck. This is a perfect 10. A $3000 collectible G&L is not in the cards for me. Perhaps $3000 worth of G&L guitars. If I found something close to this I would probably snap it up immediately. I might custom order one as close to this as possible. I'll take the s/n plate on the side, unmounted in an envelope.
