My 1st G&L - USA ASAT Special w/the works

Post by sourjaw57 »

Purchased last week from craigslist for $950. Lake Placid Blue, double binding, Creme pickguard, tinted neck, locking tuners, no blemishes! I'm in heaven. I bought a Fender Tele with P90s and returned it because it felt cheap and knew I could find something amazing for just a little bit more. This is my 1st USA guitar and 1st G&L. Pure sweetness! Now I'm looking for a new amp. I strum a lot of chords, not really a blues or metal guy: any amp suggestions? I get inspiration from Jimmy Eat World and Placebo if that tells you anything. I'm leaning towards Vox AC30C2, but I don't really know enough about amps to make a good decision.

Anyhow, here's my new baby!

That's a gorgeous Special. Congratulations!

Go the Vox AC30 or AC15. You won't be sorry. Or something Marhsall-y or Orange-y. I love the sound of a Special through a slightly driven Brit flavoured amp.

that is a looker! if you like strumming a lot of chords and want full clean tones that you can dirty up with a pedal if you like, then try out a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, or a Deluxe Reverb or Princeton Reverb reissue, if you need more power get a Twin. :) Best I can tell you if you have a music store (or stores) within driving distance take your ASAT with you and try as many as you can. Listen to your ears and don't listen to what the sales guy says unless he really seems to know what he's talking about. and then still take it with a grain of salt. there are a lot of nice amps at all different price points so let your ears guide you to the best one for you. Happy hunting.

Wow thems really is the works :shocked003: I hear you on amps, been looking for something with real tubes since I got my ASAT. Standard advice is try everything you can, my added advice is... don't settle. you didn't settle for a guitar sounds like you won't settle for an amp.

Congrats on your stunning ASAT. :happy0065:
You picked wisely. She's a beauty
I Looooove the cream pickup on cream pickguard :luv:
She'll sound great through just about any amp. Personally I love the ASAT with VOX combination.
Andy from PGS has plenty of demos featuring ASATs & vox. But as others have suggested previously, try as many different amps till you find that one that serves your playing style.
