sperzel locking tuners are buzzing on my G&L

Post by meowmix »

I have an on-going problem with my S500.
There is buzzing, but not at the Frets or the nut. The sound is coming from the Sperzel locking tuners.
Who here has experience with that and how do I fix it?

Thanks

tighten screws on knobs a little. Also, at next string change check the nuts on the top for tightness as well.

Meow, this is a mystery as I can't imagine what could buzz on a Sperzel Locker. The string tension alone would prevent most of the parts from buzzing. Buzzing can be hard to locate. I would look carefully and see if it could be from a saddle or the trem area. For a starter I would lay the guitar on a bench and try to make it buzz and pinch the saddles together and see if it changes. I would work up the neck checking for fret buzz or however you can locate it. Is it doing it with open strings? Let us know what you come up with. The last buzz problem I had was from a bridge cover on a Jazzmaster type bridge. Ashtray covers can also do that.-- Darwin

Thanks everyone.

I found the loose screw in the key. The buzz was coming from the tuners.
This had been going on for weeks, and most of that time I thought it was the dreaded fret buzz.

Feeling better now.

I knew it would be a screw. Happened on my parker once or twice. I've had it for about 11-12 years.
