I need some direction in what would be the best replacement pickup for my SB-1 bass http://www.ggjaguar.com/sb-1-83.htm. They don't have them on the G & L site. I'm very new to this and all I know is its a magnetic field single coil humbucking pickup. Just want to get it fixed and play again :)
I appreciate your help!

Re: Replacement pickup for SB-1 Bass?
Hi,
One option is to have it rewound by on of the usual suspect: Lindy Fralin, Jason Lolar (although he lists only specific pickups), or http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/fa ... our Duncan. But don't forget to contact the G&L repair shop (Chris Robosan) by mailing repairs@glguitars.com. He might be able to give you some pointers.
Hope this helps,
- Jos

Here are a few things for you to consider:cklein wrote:I need some direction in what would be the best replacement pickup for my SB-1 bass http://www.ggjaguar.com/sb-1-83.htm. - If you are the original owner and the bass is less than 10 years old, you have the G&L Warranty which should
cover the problem (though, you did not indicate the actual problem). See the G&L Support link and follow the process:
To arrange repair of your G&L instrument.
- If the pickup is microphonic or squeals, see this post: squealinga and feedback
- If a replacement is necessary, you could check eBay, as there are a few sellers who part out G&L Tributes and sell
the parts. The G&L Tribute SB-2 bass bridge pickup is the one you want. It is the exact same pickup used on the G&L
USA SB basses.
Hope this helps.

Must have been in a hurry this morning, huh?
BTW, Chris is not the current contact for G&L's Customer Service, see the G&L Support page.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, your right! Looking at my post now, it's like I navigated these link like Tiger Woods did Augusta last weekend More misses than hits! Funny, I checked it this morning and still got a page mentioning Chris instead of John Toner. Must have been some (darn old) cached version of the page. Thanks for the update!

Re: Replacement pickup for SB-1 Bass?
Thanks so much for the tips! And no, I'm not the original owner. Got it at a consignment shop and to my dismay I've gone through too much work & extra $ for what I paid for it to still not sound like it should. Didn't find anything on ebay so I'll get in touch with G & L. Thought I'd try this first as their website recommends this site first
