Help picking a Neck for USA ASAT Special.

Post by balbee76 »

So I'm about to order a USA ASAT special. I've played sever models (ASAT's), but in my case the dealer had no idea what neck was on the guitar. I could only guess.
I have a 62' USA Fender Jaguar that I love the neck on. I also have a Martin D15 Acoustic that has my fav neck of all time.
I've got long fingers (from tip of middle finger to wrist is 8.5") and big hands, (at widest part of palm 4")
Can anyone point me towards the correct neck for this purchase? I understand fender neck sizes, but the G&L neck options, Modern U, Heritage C and Classic C, are perplexing. What's the difference between a classic, a heritage and a vintage...

Check out the G&L USA Guitar Options page.
Look at the Nut Width, Radius, 1st Fret Depth, 12th Fret Depth measurements in the Neck Profiles chart.

Hope this helps.

Yep, I looked at that. But since I've never really "picked" a neck out, just picked a guitar off the shelf that felt right, I really have limited experience with shape. I just know what feels right.
I was more concerned with what G&L labels a classic, heritage, and vintage.
I will go back over the page though.
Thanks for your help!!
