ASAT with golden Hardware

Post by Miles Smiles »

I'm not involved in that deal, but I'd liked to know, if there's something known about that ASAT:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0705946452

As one can see, all metal, except frets and truss rod nut, is golden, even the pole screws of the pickups. The seller seems to know not anything about, he just imported it from the US. The serial number hints to 2002 for the production year.

Is this a special build or a special edition or what?

G&L used to have gold hardware option (gold plated hardware) but with the price of gold skyrocketing it was dropped several years ago (around 2006). It could have been a guitar built for NAMM display, but might just be ordered with the Gold hardware option.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Craig.

So it had been an option. Did it cost much more than 300 $?

Yes that's correct. Sorry, I have no idea what the dealers were charging for that option.

BTW, we have a picture of a similar ASAT Semi-hollow with gold hardware in the Gallery
which appeared in the 2001 G&L Catalog:

Maybe Tim could dive in here and let us know whether any of the "George Fullerton Collection" guitars are still for sale?

Thanks.
