I have an old SC-2 (hard tail) but I have trouble keeping it in tune. I want to replace the tuners with something solid, but I'd prefer not to have to drill any new holes. I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm lazy and don't have much time lately for research and would therefore appreciate some advice from the knowledgeable folks here. Thanks in advance. - ed
btw: Oddly enough, I have a dual-fulcrum equipped SC-3 from the same era, and the tuners (which I believe to be identical) are just fine. Go figure....

Re: Replacement Tuners for Old SC-2
Your problem is most likely the nut and not the tuners. Are the nut slots correctly cut for the gauge of strings that you're using? If they are correct then try lubing the nut with Big Bends, Nut Sauce or a like product. If your bridge saddles are severely worn they can cause tuning problems too.
