I am the proud owner of a beautiful G&L Legacy USA. It is black with a pearl pick guard. Play's great and I am pretty sure it is a model from the early 90s. I bought it used for 500 bucks and just think i got a great deal. My other guitar is a 2008 American Deluxe Strat with the S.C Noiseless pickups and locking tuners. I never play it anymore though because this G&L has just become my go to axe, it is seriously the best guitar I have ever played. Anyway, my question is this. I can't seem to find an answer so I really hope someone replies to me here with some good reliable info. Basically the G&L i have says G&L on the headstock, but unlike some models, it does not say "Guitars by Leo" underneath. Can anyone tell me what this may mean? This doesnt mean my guitar could be a fake does it? If so it's a damn nice fake...hahaha. Also, this guitar does not have the Gun Oil Tint. What does this mean? was the gun oil an upgrade that this guitar just didnt come with? I would also consider taking this guitar to the factory to have it tinted with gun oil, its a maple neck and fretboard. Anyway please email me with an answer ! CRN5017@PSU.EDU or CNEVS657@YAHOO.COM
Thanks.
chris.

Here is the serial number CL08968
Thanks. I really want to know exactly what year this is made. and why it doesnt say guitars by leo. when they started putting guitars by leo on the guitars ECT....

For the year it was built, see (in the same sub-forum): Serial number significance and How do I determine an instrument's age?.
Hope this helps.
