So I was reading the Holy Grail post below and it occurs to me that my Holy Grail has always been an affordable player from the Leo era. That was what first attracted me to G&Ls. Of course at that time you could buy lots of cool old G&Ls for small coin. $200.00 SC2s, $900.00 G200s, F100s for 2-3 hundred bucks etc. I had little cash and G&Ls were a cheap alternative. So where are the values today? What is is the best "old" G&L for cheap? Here is my top 5 list....
My number one choice...1992-1996 ASAT or Legacy. KIller guitars that can be had in the $450.00-$550.00 range. A great deal and you don't have to put up with the low wide frets used back in the day.
Leo era SC2/SC3s. Believe it or not good deals still surface on these. They are built like tanks and sound terrific. $400.00-$800.00
The ubiquitous F100. Decent clean tones but superb for heavy overdriven sound. Still under a grand for one in excellent condition and players can be had for $500.00-$700.00.
Any Superhawk. Don't want MFDS? Here you go! Most folks still look down their noses at the Kahler bridge and these guitars are priced accordingly. I don't know why....the Kahler is a superb bridge in my opinion.
Any guitar with a Kahler! For some reason every G&L with a Kahler sells at a discounted price and that includes the Broadcaster.

Holy Grail post...kinda.
Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in.
