Taylor Baritone in the house

Post by RickT »

I bought a Taylor GS8 Baritone guitar over the holiday period. I was going to try and work that into our acoustic format. Just curious if anyone else has a baritone and if you've worked it into your gigs?

A baritone acoustic? Thats interesting never even heard of one of them before. You know the drill with pics Rick. Come on, don't hold out on us. ;)

The other guitarist in my band uses a baritone to great effect. His is a Danelectro Longhorn bass which he's converted to a baritone guitar by adding an extra couple of tuners and a guitar bridge. They sound great on the honky-tonk stuff we do, for all those low note twangy guitar sounds, but you don't want to use them on every song. They would be fantastic in an acoustic gig, they'd really add some much needed ooomph to the low end. Getting strings for them is tricky - if you find somewhere that sells them get a few sets as you don't see them everywhere. I can imagine acoustic baritone strings would be even rarer.
