The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.
Thought I would show my new axe to some fellow G&L tribe members. I had been after a Strat for some time. After doing a bit of research I decided that G&L was the way to go. There are 3 shops in town that are G&L dealers. I visited 2 of them to ask questions and maybe play some of the models. I wasn't too impressed with their customer service. Anyway, I ended up at the main L&M ( big chain music stores in Canada , but they don't sell G&L's ). I walk into the rental room and guess what I find. A used American S-500 in great shape that had just come in on a trade a few days earlier. It only has 2 springs for the trem block, so I'll be looking to add at least one. The low E buzzes a bit but no biggy. A minor set up is in order. I don't believe in fate but this worked out well for me. The price was great and the case is in good shape too. I have no idea how old it is but it has been well cared for.
There is a build date on the body in the neck cavity, if you ever see it with the neck off. It may have a date on the neck too, visible when it's apart.
Sure is pretty.

Yeah I like everything about mine a lot too (in the avatar).
I always thought I'd prefer the Legacy, as I'm a vintage guy in most regards, but I'm glad I laid my resistence to ceramic magnet pickups aside. I got used to the frets and radius (and even the especially narrow width of my particular guitar's neck).
Most versatile guitar I've ever had: can do fluffy jazz sounds, to crisp country, gets bluesy, can do funk, and absolutely howls, sings, and screams, with distortion. And the whammy even works too!
I am using a Superchamp XD that I have doctored up a little bit. Combined with the pick ups in the guitar, a wide variety of tones can be obtained. Very pleased with the combo. I'm a small amp fan. I would like to try out one of those 57 champ reissues if I can find one, but they are expensive.
