Fancy seeing you here, can't help you as I have never played a tribute, but by all accounts they are probably the best imports out there (and still beat fenders from what I have heard). I do however have a 3 HB DC135. First, I never use middle pickups, and prefer a 2 HB where you can get inner coils, prefer the sound. Make sure they can all split, I find splitting to be imperative to quick changes in driving your amp.

Whoa! It's kyle! Thanks for the input on splitting, and the Tribute legacy HB (mouthful!) has split function

Just to clarify: only the bridge pickup is split by the push/pull tone control.
