Dual Fulcrum Vibrato Question

Post by ironsabbath »

Hey everyone! I very recently got myself a very beautiful used S500 in silver metallic and I absolutely love it! However, I do have one question. The guitar did not come with a vibrato bar when I got it, and so I ordered one from G&L. However, when I initially tried to check the date of and register my new guitar, the registry wasn't working. I just got the guitar registered and I now realize that it is a 2003 guitar and I might not have the right whammy bar for it since I ordered the modern vibrato arm. The arm fits and is usable, but is very loose and falls out way too easily to be practical. Do I need the tension screw set (or any other part?) or is it just that I have the wrong arm? I'm entirely new to the world of G&L (though I have wanted one for a long time now) and would appreciate all the help I can get.

You do need the tension screw and nylon bushing to fix the looseness which will also keep it from falling out.
If you are missing the tension screw set, then make sure to select Tension Screw Set (Pre-2005) from the G&L webstore.

The bar you ordered should work fine once you get the tension screw set. The diameter of the bar you got is approximately 0.23" or 5.84mm.
Whereas the diameter of the stock bar is approximately 0.25" or 6.35mm.

Hope this helps.
