Yowza! Quite interested in the story of the neck join, with the bass-style bolts and carve.

When I took over the Custom Shop in December 2023, I told Dave McLaren I'd like to introduce modern neck pocket and heel contouring as an available option on Custom Shop instruments. This is done to provide the player with a more comfortable neck joint in the hands when you're playing in the upper register of the instrument.

Modern electric guitars have been utilizing neck screw ferrules over neck plates for a couple decades now as an alternative to the blocky, squared off heel and standard Fender style neck plate.

I've been slowly introducing these into the various models on builds throughout the year. You'll see more of them in the future when I feel like a design calls for it, or when the customer ordering the guitar requests it.

Thanks so much for your reply! As much as I like Leo's continual tinkering and improvements, I'm open to changes like this that have proved their worth elsewhere. It's exciting to see this kind of thing occurring at G&L. Thank you!
