I've owned many-a-guitar -- mainly a Strat and Tele guy. For no particular reason I never gravitated towards G&L until I played one some years ago. I stumbled across a used recent ASAT w/MFDs at a Guitar Center. Thing played and sounded great. It was very fairly priced but I wasn't in a position to make a guitar purchase at the time, but it remains a memorable guitar.
Fast forward to late last year and I come across this old Interceptor at a local shop and I went ahead and splurged on it. A very different animal than that very memorable ASAT. To me it does a nice job of combining elements of a standard Strat and the "SuperStrats" of its day.
Yes, the Interceptors are interesting guitars. Originally conceived back in the mid-80s (think hair-metal and spandex bands) but the combination with Leo's ingenuity makes for a very versatile axe.
Much of the traffic that used to be on this site has moved to the Facebooks of the world but there are many G&L veterans here that visit to drop some point or two of wisdom on us. Craig, our exalted site-admin has an encyclopedic knowledge set about the brand and history. As well, there is a massive volume of info here that's sure to take you right down the rabbit-hole, never to see daylight again.
Make sure you register your instrument in the Registry, found on this site and happy playing!

YOWZA! Less than one-hundred! Had no idea. Guess I better hold onto it. Mine is an '86 according to the serial number charts. I did put it in the registry.
Congrats on joining the G&L fold! Holy cow---with a rare Interceptor!! I'm gobsmacked that in this day and age a guitar like this can be stumbled upon in a local store.
