i am the very proud and happy owner of a Tribute Series ASAT DELUXE ‘CARVED TOP’ - for more than a year now. I am a learner and this was the guitar i bought to start my journey. Wasnt i lucky
anyway, now i am exploring the guitar setup and i have most things nailed down, except the pickup height. When i google humbucker pickup height advice it come back with the "standard" bass side pickup to 2.4mm (3/32") and the treble side pickup to 1.6mm (1/16"). But this just doesnt equate with my measurements (default from purchase). My measurements are much bigger.
it sounds ok, to me at least, so i wont change. but what should these measurements be for my ASAT delux "carved top"

Welcome to our site!
Congratulations on starting your guitar journey with a G&L Tribute Series guitar.
Regarding pickup height, you will see that we also recommend those setting as the default starting points. You can then raise or lower
each pickup to your own preference. Since your current settings are different just measure them as your starting points, and then adjust up/down
to find your own preference.

Hope this helps.
thanks, its great to be here and i will check out the link you shared.
i am a bit concerned because my measurements are as follows:
on the neck pickup
8mm low E
6.5mm high E
on the bridge pickup
3.5 mm low E
3 mm high E
you see, very high
and i have had my guitar prfessional setup/strings chenge etc. one already.. now i want to do it myself.
The gauge of your strings also has an effect on your string height adjustment. Since adjusting pickup height is simple and easily reversible, I'd experiment and let your ears be the judge.
I am on my third set of strings in about 1.5 years.
the first set came with the guitar and i felt were too light/soft, i have no idea what they were. About 6 months ago i got a full service and changed the strings to 10 - 48 ultra slinky, which were much better. i now decided to change my own strings 10 - 46 D'Addario, which are great, and do my own service. I am much happier with the setup and sound i get now, although i do need to tweak the low E bridge a little to get the intonation spot on. I am also a firm believer in doing things yourself as it deepens your understanding.
anyway, I think i have procrastinated enough with set ups and i must get back to practicing the playing part because i am still very poor, but i do enjoy it
