Mahogany Comanche?

Post by tomanche »

Did anyone here snag the early 2000s rare mahogany-bodied Comanche? It was on Reverb for a day or two. I was tempted to buy, but I'm trying to thin my herd, not add to it!! I didn't save it to my watch list and now there's no trace of it (doesn't show up in sold listings).
I've always been curious about those mahogany guitars that G&L built in the early aughts in small numbers. That wood works quite well in my ASAT Junior, ASAT Super, ASAT Deluxe, and Skyhawk... oh, and G-200. I think Jos has one of the builds? I've only ever seen two listings for them: this Comanche and a Legacy several years ago.

- ASAT Super Special Build built in 2004 - 2010 Custom Creations-60 (initial run); 74 total to date (2007); 6 built for UK & 12 built for Germany (April 2010).
- ASAT HB Special Build built in 2004 less than 35 made.
- Legacy Special Mahogany Special Build built in 2004 less than 25 made.
- Comanche Mahogany Special Build built in 2004 less than 25 made.
- S-500 Mahogany Special Build built in 2004 less than 25 made.
- ASAT Classic "Blues Boy" Mahogany Special Build built in 2005 28 made.
- G&L 25th Anniversary built in 2006 Custom Creations-250 made.
- Legacy HB Mahogany Special Build built in 2006 35 made.

I'm sure the 1999 G&L GbL LE (25 made) is another that is built with mahogany body, in this case a chambered body with f-hole. Is that considered a Special Build? I own #22.

I have a mahogany SC2 which is amazing and made its way to Perth, Western Australia
It is my main writing and teaching guitar. Bought from Upfront Guitars the day Dale Hyatt passed away.... :( :)

I missed that listing too. Nice score for whomever snatched it up.
