December 16, 1981-Original S•500 drawing by George Fullerton. I have NOS control plates here and spare pickguards somewhere in the building.
I figured I’d start putting the pieces together in case the 3D printed pickup covers work out.
My thoughts are to use a current 4-bolt setup with slightly wider heel rather than the old school 3-bolts, as it’s really much nicer when playing up the neck.
The early S•500 headstock is not my favorite, but either Skyhawk or Doheny headstocks would look great. The body shape already lives on as the Skyhawk today,
but the pickup and control routes would need to be changed to early S•500.
The control plate would be a direct reproduction and the pickguard would just need the neck heel opened up a little. Anyway, it’s all about those pickup covers.
