What if a Z-coil had 1970s quarter-inch Sabre/Stingray ...

Post by Craig »

From a post on the CLF Research facebook page:
The mad scientist Brother John is experimenting again. What if a Z-coil had 1970s quarter-inch Sabre/Stingray guitar magnets?
Step 1: fabricate the bobbin. Step 2: estimate the number of coil turns. Step 3: bring to life and laugh maniacally

That, my friend, is the kind of tinkering that I love to see.

I expect fewer windings (with thicker wire?) and a lower seat should translate to even cleaner tone.

You must let us know how these turn out.

I don't know anything about the properties of the Sabre/Stingray pole pieces, but the spirit of experimentation is way cool! Looking forward to the next updates.
