Dear G&L Community
Recently I bought a used ASAT Special
Its a great player nothing wrong, but the preowner has stored it in a humid place. Now the pots are oxidated and are noisy opon turning(or even touching(Not an schielding issue)
Has anybody a wiring diagramm?
What is resistance of the pot's?
Can anybody point me to the correct ones(Like Steward MAC)?
Thanks a lot

Re: G&L ASAT Special question ??
Nice axe. The pots should be 500K, as far as the wiring....I would look on Seymour Duncan's web site. They have a ton of different diagrams. I would just look how they are wired right now and just replace the pots.
Gold Flake ASAT Deluxe Semi-Hollow & Red Flake Bluesboy Semi=Hollow.......THEY SCREAM!!

Re: G&L ASAT Special question ??
There is a wiring diagram and schematic for the ASAT Special on the main G&L website. See the Support section.
We also have the Album: Instrument Manuals and Wiring Schematics in the Gallery.
There is a wiring schematic there for the ASAT Special.
I do want to make sure that you are talking about an ASAT Special and not the ASAT Deluxe you posted photos of. Is this correct?
The ASAT Special uses 250k pots and you can get them from the G&L Online store.
However, you might try using some contact cleaner on your existing pots before replacing them. Stew-Mac sells a spray can of a product called DeoxIT.
Hope this helps.

Re: G&L ASAT Special question ??
First of all, sorry for picking up an old thread. But I just didn't see the need to make a new one.
So, I bought a Tribute ASAT Special (2007 Indonesia model). I checked the electronics and noticed that there was a 500k pot for the volume and 250k for tone. As I've seen on all of the schematics there "should" be two 250k pots? So is there's some reason for the 500k pot? If I would change the 500k volume pot for 250k pot, would it tame the high end of the pickups? 'cos now they are quite trebly.
What year G&L upraded the pots to better ones? I'm just wondering if I should change the pots to the Mighty Mite-ones if the 2007 model doesn't already have them.
Thanks in advance!

I asked Paul Gagon about this. He said yes you should change the 500K volume pot for the stock 250K pot.Kummeli wrote:First of all, sorry for picking up an old thread. But I just didn't see the need to make a new one.

It will tame the trebly condition. The pots should be Mighty Mites and you can get replacements from the G&L online store.
Did you buy this new or used?
Hope this helps.

Re: G&L ASAT Special question ??
Ok, thanks. I bought it new from the local music shop (I live in Finland) just this tuesday. SO they should change the pot for free then? Any idea why there is the 500k pot? Just by mistake?Craig wrote: I asked Paul Gagon about this. He said yes you should change the 500K volume pot for the stock 250K pot.

Yes, it should be covered under the Warranty. It was likely a mistake and was not caught during final check.Kummeli wrote:Ok, thanks.
