Back in the game - Tribute ASAT Classic!

Post by TexasJack »

Howdy folks,

I was a regular around this site 15 years ago in the Traweek days and spent many enjoyable hours here.
It was so long ago that Dave used to send a BBE pedal to faithful Lunch Reporters. :D I still have my Green Screamer!

At various times I owned an original Signature Skyhawk, an ASAT Z-3 and a few others including Bluesboy #1 from Buffalo Bros.
Alas like many I regret selling those I let go of but there's only so much room in the music hall...

After a long layoff I'm back in the G&L game with a Butterscotch Tribute ASAT Classic.
This is my first Tribute. I thought I'd give it a try since I'd heard so many good things.

Simply put, it's an amazing guitar for the price.

Not as much traffic as in the old days but that's to be expected with so many social media outlets.

Glad to know the brand is still bringing it hard and the quality is as good as ever, if not better.

I bought a Emerald Blue G&L Classic Tribute this past summer directly from G&L. It was a B-stock item and I got a staggeringly good deal.
It's a simply amazing guitar. I own a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Butterscotch as well and love that ... but the G&L's MFD's pickups have more power and clarity and the neck is perfect for me.
I had bought a G&L Fallout Tribute previously and was super impressed with the quality. I'm glad I added another G&L to my little guitar arsenal.

Hi Lockback! I see it’s yer first post and see the G&L bug is taking hold, some great choices ya got. Totally agree about the pickups on the Classic.

Do ya have a preference between the Fallout and Classic?

Sam,
I definitely prefer the Tele. The Fallout is a fascinating combo of P90 neck pickup and splittable humbucker on the bridge and its quality is typical G&L, which is to say excellent.
While the MFD pickups on the ASAT Classic are hotter than the 4th of July and have amazing clarity, I find both the Fallout pups to be a little weak. I have to stomp on my overdrive pedal pretty hard to get the sound where I want it.
Having said that, I really like it and played if last night. It's capable of a wide variety of tones.
But my two favorite electric guitar types are Teles and semi-hollow bodies, so I abolutely love the ASAT. :happy0065:
