Charlie Watts RIP

Post by sam »

The backbeat of The Rolling Stones has left the building. Have been wavering on seeing this tour but no Charlie don’t think so. Have had tickets to three tours but never saw them. 82 Pontiac MI, 94 Indy and 89 Jacksonville FL

Sad day for drummers and music fans. Even us Beatle fans

Edit - Just saw he had pulled from the tour already, didn’t hear that news.

I was a big Stones fan; I saw the "Sticky Fingers" tour at the LA Forum (with Bill Wyman) and "Bridges to Babylon" tour at Dodger Stadium (with Daryll Jones), both times with Charlie of course.

Both shows were awesome ,their output of work was incredible. "12 x 5", "Exile on Main Street" and many others remain classic cuts, and IMO the tracks with Mick Taylor on guitar were some of the deepest grooves.

I will say that I kinda think they might have hung it up as a band a while back. Their Super Bowl performance several years back was IMO a disaster, sounded like a garage band. IMO.

But... there is no one like them, and Charlie was a class act, big-time into jazz, and living a sedate and stable life (well, maybe a few glitches here and there, but overall..)

Glad I got to see him play live. He was an icon and a legend to my generation.

RIP Charlie Watts.
