As I'm bringing this G&L Legacy back to life I'm taking steps to restore the finish in any areas I can. The fretboard has some wear from playing between the strings, some scratches, a birthmark etc etc.
What is a good product/method for bringing back some continuity to the appearance? I don't mind the worn look to a degree, but there are some areas where it just looks kinda "off".
Sadly there are also some scratches from this cheap tool I was using to protect the fretboard while I was polishing the frets. Additionally there is a "birthmark" (see pic) that I'd like to hide. None of these markings affect the tone or playability.
Would car wax work to bring it back to a shine? I just want to bring the shine back, offer a little protection for the fretboard too over time. I'm not seeking the worn-out, relic'd Fender look otherwise I'd leave it as is.
best regards,
