martin shaw wrote:Hi there this is my first G+L guitar purchased from UK. Its a Legacy deluxe. I have a question for anyone who could shed light on this.

The guitar is great, I'm just having a problem with the thin E string sounding like a sitar when played open. No height adjustment of the saddles or neck relief cures it. Im just waiting for the shop (guitar guitar UK) to get back to me on it.

I see that every other legacy deluxe has a string tree but this one doesn't.

Does anyone else have one without a string tree? The E string pops out of the slot pretty easily!

Thanks

Martin UK

Welcome to our site! :greet:

Did you buy this G&L Legacy as new or used?
If new, take it to the G&L dealer (guitar guitar) and ask them to install the missing string tree and do a setup to resolve the high E issue.

Note: https links will not open directly on our forums. See: Added new BBCode for opening url link in a new tab ....

For posting photos inline, see: Tutorial: Posting photos.
At the bottom of the Tutorial are instructions to use if your photos are hosted on Flickr.

Your G&L Legacy model is the Legacy HB/HSS or Fullerton Deluxe Legacy HB/HSS. Look on the back of the headstock to see if the serial number is laser etched.
If so, it will have Fullerton Deluxe laser etched above the serial number if it is Fullerton Deluxe model.

The G&L Legacy Deluxe model (2001 - June 2015) did not have a pickguard and had a Flame Maple top.

Please do add your G&L guitar to our G&L Registry.
See: Welcome! Read This First, before adding to the G&L Registry.

Hope this helps.

Hi there thanks for the reply really appreciate it! Got it brand new so it must have been there a while as it was made in Feb. I emailed the shop an hour ago and told them I'd sort it myself as I have a string tree and a local tech.

Apart from the little issue it's the best sounding S type I've played. I'm really impressed with the spit coil on the humbucker. It still quacks!

Here's a photo of your guitar from G&L's facebook page:

They overlooked the missing string tree.

Here is the website photo for this model, showing where they locate the string tree:

Hope this helps.
