ASAT Saddles

Post by JJJimmy »

I've noticed in most of the ASAT pics lately, the saddles are brass. Those on my ASAT Classic are not (well, they don't look like brass). I'm constantly cleaning them, since they get white fuzzy corrosion on them when not played in a while. Would it be worthwhile to change to some brass ones - possibly improve tone? I also don't want to devalue it.

According to GGJaguar's Guitarium, G&L changed from steel to brass saddles in 1999. If you change the saddles to brass, just keep the old ones, as it's an easy return to "bone stock". Do you live near the ocean? I'm just wondering because that salt air wreaks havoc on steel.

I'm in Florida, and it is ALWAYS humid. Can I expect any change in tone with the brass?
