I have a G&L Comanche (USA).
I have recently started getting a buzz on the D string that is apparently coming from the tremolo. If I lightly touch the tremolo while striking the open D, there is no buzz. This occurs unplugged as well as plugged in.
Is there something I can do to correct this? I have tried replacing strings and that has no effect. My tuning stability is very good.
Thanks,
Charley

Re: Tremolo buzz?
Have you checked if the saddle is worn or something associated with it is loose? Also check the springs for rattles.

If the springs are rattling, what can I do to stop them?

Usually you can put a piece of foam behind the springs

Does the foam inhibit the tremolo in any way?

Re: Tremolo buzz?
charleyrich,
Here are a few examples. I've used foam before and it does not affect the tremolo. I have not used the tubing example but may try in the future as it looks like the parts would wear less. Anyone here tried this before?

Re: Tremolo buzz?
My new RMC Legacy had some ringing and noise in the trem springs at first. Not sure if it's the same buzz you're describing, but basically on mine the springs would ring out and make muting notes difficult. A little foam helped kill almost all of the noise I was experiencing.
Seems like it's a fairly common thing, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't. Fwiw my other legacy has quiet springs and never had this issue.
I'd also wonder if it's maybe the saddle that's vibrating or something. Since you said it only seems to happen on one specific string?
