Mystery ASAT

Post by spankygtr »

Can anyone shed light on this guitar? I was told its a USA model, but no country of origin is found. And its got some discoloration, mostly on the sides. There no evidence anything was spilled on it, seems to be baked in to the finish.
Sorry, I couldnt figure out how to add pics, but they are near the top of the page here:

ASAT made in the US around 2005. I'd say the specific model is an ASAT Deluxe.

I contacted Memo Romero (SERVICE MANAGER) and asked for the Factory log information on this guitar, here is his reply:
Hi Craig,
Production date on the ASAT Deluxe is April, 20 2005, the body wood is ash, the finish is blonde. The rosewood fingerboard has a 1-5/8" nut width, radius is 12", pickups are Seymour Duncans. All the best.

Best Regards,
Memo Romero

A couple of things:

The standard 2005 ASAT Deluxe would have a Flame Maple top on Mahogany body with top white binding.

No mention in the log entry of the Gold hardware and it was not an option available on the ASAT Deluxe. For reference, see this link to
the Internet Archive of G&L's website in April 3, 2005: http://web.archive.org/web/200504031155 ... ameset.htm.

You might look in the pickup pockets for additional information about this build.

Regarding the discoloration on the body, it might have happen due to a reaction of rubber pads from a guitar stand.

Hope this helps.
