Please post more photos full length front and back, including the serial number.
Tell us how come to acquire this guitar. What pickups are in there as they are not the stock blade HB pickups.
The Legacy Special went into production in 1993.

Looking forward to see more of this guitar.

Hello,
Thanks for the quick response.
I bought it second hand. I don't know which pickups are installed. I opened the Guitar to try to see which pickups are installed but there is no brand or serial number. But it sounds really good.

Strange was when I saw that it was stamped 10/15/84.

Thanks for the additional photos.

The serial number is G039711.
I have emailed one of my contacts at G&L to get the factory log info on this guitar.

I am quite certain that the date stamper was set wrong on the year. It should have been set to 1994.

Stay tuned.

Just got a reply back from Memo:
Hi Craig,
Production date on the candy apple red Legacy with a maple neck is September 27th 1994, body wood is alder, the pickups might be the Seymour Duncans, the only way to tell is by lifting the pick guard off the body and checking each pickup for the Seymour Duncan “SS” initials followed by a number on the back of the pickups. If no initials are found then they are the CLF 100’s made in Fullerton. The standard neck on this was a 1-5/8” nut width, 12” radius (the #1nk neck). If you have any further questions please email me back, all the best.

Best Regards,
Memo Romero

Seems that the neck plate ended up on a Legacy Special neck with Clear Blue on Swamp Ash body.
The body is dated stamped 10/15/1984, which is obviously a date stamper setup error. The pickups appear to be CLF100’s.
I guess it’s a parts guitar now.

Hope this helps.

HI,
Thanks for the answer.
I spoke with the previous Guitar owner and he says that the guitar is all original except for pickups.
But if the serial number indicates a red legacy I believe!!?
The pickups are not CLF100 for sure.

Is there a possibility that the serial number is wrong too?
If they stamped the wrong date 3 times on a guitar :)

I have a G&L S-500. I am sure this is all original!!
Don't you mind if i send you some pictures to see if you can indicate the year of manufacture?

Thanks very much for everything

The serial number in the factory log indicates that the neck plate was used to build a Candy Apple Red Legacy in September 27,1994.
Since you are in contact with the previous owner, please ask him where he acquired this guitar (new from G&L dealer or used) and what
mods he did to the guitar.I only see one factory date stamp in the neck pocket. The handwritten info in the pocket and on the back of the
pickguard appear to be written by the same person (by a previous owner, perhaps?). I have no reason not to believe what the Factory log book shows for the serial number on that neck plate.

Regarding your S-500: do start a new post and post photos of it and tells us where and when you acquired it on the G&L Forum.

Interesting case with the neck plate evidently from a different guitar.

I'm actually reading the dates on this one as 1994, not 1984. But the handwritten dates are kind of funky, could be "84" or could be "94".

I have a 1984 Legacy Special. It is rare and known as the George Orwell Model. Nice find.

Let me explain. This was sarcasm. A form of humor.
I did not buy a 1984 Legacy Special from Dale Hyatt in a parking lot of a
Dennie's in Texas in 1986.

Take care,
