Legacy with Alnico AND MDFs?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Legacy with Alnico AND MDFs?

Post by RVABlueBurst »

I recently purchased a Fullerton Deluxe and am looking to tweak the sound a bit. I love how it sounds now but would like some more crunch, especially in the bridge position. I was thinking a out keep one or two of the Alnico pickups but also adding one or two MDF pickups. Has anyone done this and if so, what were the results? I was specifically thinking a out putting the MDFs in the neck and bridge positions and keeping the Alnico in the middle.

I also live in Richmond, VA where there is a guy named Lindy Fralin who makes pickups that are supposed to be great. If anyone has experience with these info would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Lindy Fralins are GORGEOUS pickups.

I've got a set of "Blues Special" in a tele and a mustang. They're slightly darker and 5% overwound. That means they have a hotter input volume and take overdrive better. They have insane note clarity and fullness of tone.

Call them. They'll talk to you for half an hour and help you choose a pickup.

Cannot recommend Lindy Fralin enough.
