Differences in Late '80's/Early 90's MFD Pickups

Post by Seattle Steve »

I recently bought a '91 s-500 without original MFD pickups that I'd like to restore. In my search for period-correct replacements, I have this question? Were the single coil MFD's that were installed in other models of the late '80's/early 90's, such as the SC-3, the same as the ones in used in the S-500? Thanks for any info!

At a certain point SC3/Skyhawk pickups were different (lower output/resistance.) Later on I believe they were all switched to the higher resistance S500 pickups, not sure when but think someone here should know.

You may want to read this thread. Discussed difference between S-500/Skyhawk/SC-3 (scroll about 1/4 to 1/3 down)

Hope this helps.
