Re: Tell me about this ASAT classic
Think you are ballpark with the age. The plated brass saddles I only see on my early, pre-BBE ACs. So yours should be from close to the transition date when BBE took over. This is corroborated by the closed, non-locking Sperzel tuning machines which were first used no earlier than 1992. The bridge plate does not contain the phrase "by Leo Fender", which was removed after BBE got sued by FMIC for "improper" use of the Leo Fender signature. You can also take a quick peak under the control panel. If you find Japanese sourced pots, it is definitely 1992-1993. But the 3-bolt neck restricts the guitar to be from before early-1997. That still gives you a range of 5 years. Undoubtedly there are date stamps on either heel and/or in the pocket that will tell you the age.
