Hey everyone! I had an account on the old board, but I couldn't log in so I guess I need a new one for the new board!
I was wondering if someone could help me find some information on adjusting the tremolo in order to have it act more subtly. I'm looking for more of a Bigsy effect than surf-style or dive bombs. Even minor presses really detune, so I'd like to calm it down a bit.
I have an S-500 (in the registry).
Thanks!
How to adjust tremolo or soften trem effect?

Adding springs would slow down the tremelo action.
You'll have to re-adjust (loosen) the spring claw so until your bridge
sits level with the guitar top again.

Thanks for the reply! Will any springs do, or are there varying lengths/sizes/models?

Most have the same length, just different metal blends which gives you different stiffness and flexibility . So it should be easy to find a couple more so you have 5 total .areed wrote:Thanks for the reply! Will any springs do, or are there varying lengths/sizes/models?
Does your tremelo claw have 5 tabs on it ( for attaching the springs) ?

5 springs?! Why have a trem in the first place... Or use another guitar.
I have two currently and the brass one still in the case.
A delicate touch can do wonders.

I changed my trem to 3 springs shortly after I got my S-500. I much prefer the feel of it now. If I understand the OP's question I think that he'll like it better too. I don't use the whammy much at all, but when I do I want to feel a bit of resistance on the bar.
