Just got a 1982 G&L SC-1, pots are bent, need to replace

Post by helmet4000 »

Hi there,

I just acquired a G&L SC-1 from 1982 (it came today). It is already in the G&L registry:
Entry No. 115.
Serial: G013043
SC-1
Neck JAN 4, 1983
Body: DEC 15, 1982
Maple
Saddle-Lock

Notes: Repainted Black with White racing Stripe, originally white/cream. Straight neck, responsive pickup, no major dents, minor scratches, original case. Geat player, will sell at later time.

The pots are bent. Does anyone know if I should replace with Split or Solid shaft? Anything more specific would help too.

It needs a setup and slightly lower action but it plays and sounds amazing.

Note sure how to attach picture.

Cant give an exact answer on the pots as I don't know exactly what they came from, but if the knobs are held on with a grub screw you're better off with solid shaft - its waaay too easy to over tighten the grub screw and snap the split shafts.
