Semi hollow - no f hole

Post by tedkirkendall »

I saw online a store selling what they called a semi hollow ASAT special. It had no F hole. Is this a real thing? Thanks

Fumble fingers is correct.

From this post in our G&L Knowledgebase Forum: February 1, 2017-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options:
ASAT® Special Semi-Hollow
Same as ASAT Special, except features twin voice chambers on the left and right sides of the body.
Standard and Premier finishes included with swamp ash body.
Choose with or without F-hole.
Hope this helps.

Does it sound much different in addition to being lighter?

Here is how G&L describe it: (Reference link: https://www.glguitars.com/product/build ... mi-hollow/
The semi-hollow Swamp Ash body on this version brings a certain "hi-fi" quality to the tone, softening the attack and slightly scooping the mids for accentuated highs and lows.
Hope this helps.

I just purchased a semi-hollow (no fhole) from Wolfe Guitars on Friday.
Anticipating delivery later this week and will post my thoughts, once I lived with it for awhile.
