Another special built guitar - ASAT Special with a twist ...

Note: These photos were taken with a cellphone camera under G&L Factory fluorescent lighting.
Here's an ASAT Special with Silver Metal Flake on top and Whiskey on back over swamp ash, top binding, OLS body depth, rosewood board, Clear Satin neck finish.
CLF079904 is headed to Water Wheel Guitars in Milford, Pennsylvania.

IMO, the perfect way to do top bound bodies.

So, I checked with Dave to see if this was a new option. Here's his reply:
Hi Craig,

This is not an option, so anyone trying to order that would be declined. As you know well, we do make some things not on the menu and sell them.

Best to you,

Dave

I recently stumbled across a couple of OLS Bluesboy 90s while searching for a new guitar. I find the idea intriguing but was skeptical about ordering one; it seems like a change I would want to experience first hand more than as an online purchase (just because returns seem like a pita).
Has anyone played one? Is the thickness difference pronounced?
I see it was promoted as a way to save weight but then again one unit I researched was still pushing 8lbs, same as a full size.

The two I saw online were both in nitro fiesta red....and both discounted quite generously. The color looked a bit off to me though that's likely due to the photos. They were much pinker in hue than the ones pictured here on the nitro thread.

arm contour and belly cut do more for comfort than OLS , My Broacaster is close to 10 pounds with OLS , my 2012 ASAT Classic is almost the same weight despite the thicker body on the 2012 and don't notice much difference .... My 2014 ASAT BB with C plus maple neck , locking tuners , OLS , arm countour on Empress wood is 6.5 pounds ....

Just the ones which were finished in Black and have a Maple body. ;)
