what pickup do i have?

Post by invader1993 »

I have a 2009 invader deluxe plus. On my bridge it shows a seymore duncan humbucker pickup. So I looked up what the invader came with and it says in this site it has a G&l aw4370. So my question is do I have a seymore duncan or a G&L pickup. If its a g&l what would be the seymore duncan pickup equivalent? I have read the invader might have aSeymour Duncan TB-4 as well is that true? If so i find it amazing, as I have a Jackson with that pick up with an alder body maple neck and the sound is DIFFERENT vs my invader which is a mahogny body maple cap and maple neck. So is it the pickups that are differnt or is it the same pickups only its the wood taht is making the sound differnt cause the sound is so much clearer on the g&l even on distortion over the jackson. And the jackson is a pro series jackson.

If it says seymour duncan on it then it probably is a tb-4.

Take a look at this reference post of all the pickups used in G&L guitars.

Pickups absolutely can sound different in different guitars. Pickup placement, pickup height, strings, bridge, etc all have some effect on tone.

The bridge pickup on 1997-2015 (pre-July 1) Invaders was the Seymour Duncan JB Model TB-4 humbucker, see: 2014-15 (pre-July 1) G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.
This was changed in 7/2015 to the G&L AW4470B Alnico humbucker, see: July 1, 2015-Feb 29, 2016 G&L U.S. Specifications & Options and List of pickups used in G&L guitars.

Hope this helps.
