Looking to lose some weight on the headstock.
What are my options for light weight tuners?
The Hipshot Ultralites look pretty good. Do I need the 1/2 or 3/8 inch ones?
Thanks!

It doesn't look like anyone here has the answer for you
You might find your answer over at the G&L Bass Support Forum on the bassesbyleo.com website, hosted by Ken Baker.
Hope this helps.

The 1/2" will be closer than anything else. Bear in mind that you'd be going from one tuner style - classic tuners with a backplate - to the Ultralites. You'll need to know the diameter of the holes in your headstock and try to match them to whatever you buy, or be prepared to either carefully enlarge the holes or deal with a slightly sloppy fit. The outside diameter of the Hipshot post ferrules is .662", as found here.kful wrote:Looking to lose some weight on the headstock.

You're welcome, and I'm glad to help. And do come over to the low side from time to time. We've even got a cooking forum because bass players have to eat, you know. Maybe someday I can get Craig to pop in and register.kful wrote:Craig,

I just registered for the bass forum.
You know being near Ball & Holder is cool, but if you Walker Ball you can get a great Stromboli.

Re: Replacement tuners for Tribute L2500?
In case anyone cares. I just installed some Hipshot Ultralites (1/2") on my Tribute L2500. This really makes a difference for me. It's so much easier to play now that I'm not constantly having to hold the neck up.
Those stock Tribute tuners are a lot of weight to be sitting at the end of a bass neck, which acts like a lever.
Thanks for the help.
