Butterscotch Blonde finish was introducted in 1998. See in our Gallery: Album: 1998 G&L Catalog.
The finish is a polyurethene finish. In 2009, the Rustic models, including the ASAT Classic, were introduced. The finish was fully nitrocellulose lacquer finishes and Butterscotch Blonde was an
available finish. This finish was done off-site but local in California, see: 2009 G&L Catalog (PDF file) and this post in our G&L Knowlegebase: What are the current colors available on the Rustics?.
In 2011, the optional Satin Frost Top Coat polyurethene finish was introducted. For examples of all the current Satin Frost finishes, see: Photos of Satin Frost finish option ... and March 1, 2016-present G&L U.S. Specifications and Options.
This year, G&L has been doing some Special Production Runs of in-house nitrocellulose lacquer finished instruments, see: 2016 Special Production Run-Nitrocellulose lacquer finishes.

Hope this helps.
