Sons of the Pioneers, Superhawks + More...

Post by Katefan »

Found this page while looking up some info on Mr. Roy Lanham who was a longtime member of SOTP & a friend of Leo's.

There's some pics featuring Musicman and Leo-era guitars/basses and most surprisingly a couple of Kahler equipped Superhawks… trippy.

Straight up. From the Mar '87 issue of Guitar Player (Mike Stern on cover)
- Lanham owns two Music Man Stingrays (one with a Fender Jaguar neck installed) and currently plays Leo's G&L electric. Everything is stock with one exception.
"It had three knobs on there, and Leo took one of them off, so I have just the one for tone and the one for volume. It simplifies thing, and it's better all the way around."

Makes it sound like there was only one model of G&L - eh?

And there's a Leo signature ASAT peeking in the 1996 photo; same photo, same guitar seen full on and in color in the 1996 brochure.
