So, Below is a wiring diagram from G&L of the Invader controls. Also a pic of one of my yellow Invaders and my red Invader.
Why are they so different and what are the results of the difference in wiring? Is it just the direction of the pot turning? There seems to be a number of differences. I would assume that a wire that is supposed to be a ground does not matter if it is on the volume pot or the tone pot, right?
Just a weird thing but something I would like to discuss, should I wire it back to what the diagram shows or leave it alone?

I'd leave it alone. Ground is ground... In this case both pots casings are common (grounded) as they are connected vis the copper ground plate.
