Does anyone know if it's possible to order an L-2000 without the preamp (and the switch for it & battery compartment)?
Having to put a battery in an instrument is something I would find bothersome, and I don't think I'd use the preamp anyway.
Of course I could just not put a battery in and leave the switch turned off, but that's bound to cause some annoyance.
Thanks,
Alex

There is no official option to delete the pre-amp. You might contact a G&L dealer and ask if they can order one that way.goldspanner wrote:Does anyone know if it's possible to order an L-2000 without the preamp (and the switch for it & battery compartment)?

Please let us know what you find out.
PS have you tried out an L-2000 bass and run through all the switch options?

Not tried one yet, but I know what I'm and like and I'd almost certainly find the preamp to be unnecessaryCraig wrote: PS have you tried out an L-2000 bass and run through all the switch options?
Will enquire with some dealers and let you know what I find out.
Cheers,

If you like running a cable longer than about 12 ft, you might just find that preamp pretty useful. OTOH, if you don't mind the tone suck of a long cable and you want totally passive, we can hook you up with circuits.goldspanner wrote:Not tried one yet, but I know what I'm and like and I'd almost certainly find the preamp to be unnecessary
