Hi
I was lucky to get a Westone (Matsumoku) Strat from the 80ies for a few bucks.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Westone-Stratoca ... true&rt=nc
It is equipped with a fully loaded G&L scratchplate. I thougt about selling the guitar and keep the sratchplate for a DIY-project.
But what a shame: it sounds much better to my ears than my US built Comanche (which was quite expensive). This one: http://www.guitarworld.de/gwpages/gear, ... anche.html
So I looked after the impedance and it is at 4,8 KOhms (neck and middle PU) and 7,9 KOhms at the bridge.
My questions:
Did I coincidentally get a Will Ray Signature Pickup ?????
How can it sound better ????
I don't know what to do now? Perhaps change the Pickups between both guitars?

That sounds like an relatively easy experiment that is reversible ,especially if the pickguards ar the same.bluesywoosy wrote:

...or buy a new WR pickup for your Comanche (I think they are on sale)
Here's your guard pic inline,

I will shurely change my comanche's pickguard, but I wonder why those guitars sound different ond the cheap japanese one even better.
Are there differences between the same pickups in quality and sound?

If you liked it just fine til you took the measurements, why change anything? Other than just for fun, of course. I just posted about cramming some Z's in a Fender thinline that came with P90's. Delicious.
