The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.
These definitely look different from the older Schaller tuners. The buttons are rounder on the top, the G&L "cap" is larger, and the body looks wider/rounder and perhaps a little taller. Are these made by Gotoh or maybe Ping?
Something made for them by Hipshot? Maybe G&L is trying to use USA-made tuners to stay in that "90% of the wholesale price must be USA content" for the 2016 California product labeling laws.

New on the left, old on the right...
What does the Custom Build Specifications sheet list the tuners as?
Looks like the Kluson "K" stamped on the back of the machines, doesn't it? The 2 kinds at the bottom of this Kluson Contemporary Diecast machines for Fender models seem to be pretty close but are squarish. The ones above have the round shape but no location pin. And none have a tapered post. But still, it is my best guess.
Really like the "G&L" on the locking machines though. Looks really good!
I doesn't answer my original question - what company makes the new standard tuners? By the looks, I'm guessing Ping and I'm guessing the switch was made for cost reasons.

I was not given the name of the current supplier. I do know that the switch was due to quality and delivery issues, and not due to cost reasons.
