So, I contacted Dave McLaren and here's the scoop on them:

Hi Craig,

This is a very limited thing for us so I don’t expect we’ll put anything on the G&L site about it. It’s kind of like Monkeypod or Empress: if it is not supported as an option, we don’t take special orders for it. We build it and let dealers buy it, so I guess the best way to answer the question about what colors or models are available is this: whatever shows up at a dealer is what’s available. There will be some going to other countries.

For our first little batch we decided to make some instruments in Sonic Blue and Butterscotch, and once they were getting close to being completed we let some dealers order them. UpFront is typically hip to picking up cool stuff, so they’re the kind of guys on the short list to call. We’re certainly not pushing this.

The quality we’re going for is better than Leo did in the ‘50s and ’60s (the G&L way as you know), though with authentic nitrocellulose lacquer the natural aging will begin pretty much from day one.

I really like this Whiskey Frost look. I thought Whiskey had to be with Swamp Ash. Alder is OK?

Sure, you just need to let the dealer know that you want it with an Alder body, otherwise it will have the standard Swamp Ash body.
This is true with any of the Premier finishes. Of course, this is subject to change without notice, so always check with dealer before placing
an order.

that Royal Purple Metallic has been a finalist on several of my G&L builds with no trigger pull on the color , I'm going to have to do something about that with natural binding on a SC 2 hard tail , those Big MFD's just RIP drop tuning like no other pick up I have ever tried with my Mesa Dual Rectifier , peel the paint type of rip , lol ..... G&L should advertise the Big MFD's for metal drop tunings on the SC2 since they say sales are low on the SC2 model

You may be on to something FF! Makes sense now that you mention it. Most people would think that a humbucker would be the weapon of choice but they probably muddy up too much down low. The fidelity of the MFDs would allow you to crank and spank with great definition. Post pictures of that SC2 when you build it! That will look great.

I agree with Tim. These guys can work those finishes. Always hard to pick a favorite in these posts.

Hey all, photos I've recently purchased CLF075426 (photos are about 4/5ths of the way down the first page of this post).
It's almost perfect.
I'm thinking of swapping out pickguards and pickup covers.

Does anyone have any photos of a greenburst ASAT Special with black or black pearl pickguard and black pickup covers...?

Any photos would be greatly appreciated.
