ASAT Deluxe Carved Top in Irish Ale - more info?

Post by easthastings »

Hey everyone, first time here and a new G&L owner!

I picked up this guitar a few months ago on a really good sale, but I'm noticing that this particular model isn't listed on the G&L website, or anywhere else for that matter. Here are a few images:

It appears to be identical in every way to the Carved Top listed on the G&L site, aside from the finish and plain headstock. If someone here can tell me about it, I'd love to learn more about this guitar. Is it a MF/Guitar Center exclusive model? Or just a different finish that isn't really out in the wild yet?

Thanks!

Yes, this is another MF/Guitar Center exclusive Tribute model. G&L usually does not include dealer exclusive instruments on their main website Spec pages.

I think the only difference between this one and the standard Tribute ASAT Deluxe Carved Top is this one does not have the Maple Top veneer and top binding, has a tinted gloss neck and headstock,
and the Irish Ale body color.

I will check with one of my G&L contacts early next week to confirm whether or not the humbuckers are the same as the standard Tribute ASAT Deluxe Carved Top. As usual, MF/GC webpages
are not quite accurate (they say it has "Top wood: Maple"). Once I get the complete details, I will add it to this post: 2015-present MF/GC Exclusive Tribute Models.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help! I had my suspicions that was the case, but it's good to know for certain. Now I won't have to go on wondering where this model appeared from. Cheers!

I got the actual specs on this guitar:

Finish: Irish Ale, rosewood fingerboard
Body wood Mahogany
Neck wood Hard Rock Maple with tinted gloss finish
Neck dimensions 1 5⁄8” width at nut, 12” radius
Pickups:

· Bridge: G&L CW4470C (Ceramic 8 magnet, 7,000 turns per coil of 44ga wire) humbucker with chrome cover
Controls 3-way toggle pickup selector, volume, tone with push/pull coil tap

Note that the pickups are different from the standard Tribute ASAT Deluxe 'Carved Top'.

I have added it to this post: 2015-present MF/GC Exclusive Tribute Models

Hope this helps.

Ironic that an Irish Ale coloured guitar can't be bought in Ireland :happy0007:

Almost like a bad Irish joke

And don't even get me started as to why they don't make these in lefty  :BangBang:

I'm hoping also they will eventually offer new tribute models in lefty. We have said our peace on these boards & I'm sure they got the message. Now we just need to be patient and wait to see if they will start making them.

Fingers crossed!

You are welcome.

I'd be interested in your review of this model. Especially, your opinions of those pickups and, if you can, get the DC-R measurements on them.
I'd like to update this post: List of pickups used in G&L guitars, which is located in our G&L Knowledgebase.

TIA.
