Sonic Stomp -- Are you still using yours?

I know several people here have at one time or another acquired a BBE Sonic Stomp, either through lunch reports or other.
I've read several reviews where people who were initially enamored of them got tired of them over time and got rid of them.

I really like what I hear on the demos and I've been thinking about getting one. It's hard to imagine my Mesa Lonestar getting any more of a sparkly tone, but it would be interesting to hear it.

So do you guys still use yours? If so -- through the effects loop or regular pedal chain? How much difference is there? I know the effects loop is recommended. My Mesa Subway Blues has the effects loop disconnected (easiest method to fix the notorious "hum" issue).

I've had my Sonic Stomp a long time and seem to keep it on at all time, and in a pedal chain. Interestingly, it usually goes into either a Lonestar Special or Boogie F-50. It just seems to give a crisper, richer sound to my tone deaf ears. The Lonestar Special is known for it's great sound but the Sonic Stomp just EQ's everything. My .02 FWIW

I have been using one on my Bass guitar for several years. It has more effect on some amps than others but what I really like is I can use it to adjust my low end response very easily and is much easier to use for that than dialing in the amp. I have it mounted with velcro on the side of the pa head next to me so I can quickly reach over and adjust.

Where the Sonic Maximizer really shines is on the vocals. I use 2 882I's for 4 channels of vocals and it really sweetens the vocals through the Pa. It does work in my opinion. I run the pa channels pretty neutral on the mixer and use the maximizer to adjust. -- Darwin

I like mine but its parked in my pedal board which I haven't been using much lately , but if I do use the board it's on and it works

I stopped using mine (maybe running into the front of a JTM45 clone is not the best platform for it), and a bandmate wanted to try it. I never got it back. It appears he likes it!

I got rid of mine a long time ago. I found it worked good with one of my amps (a Ceriatone Tweed Deluxe clone) but had barely any noticeable effect with others, and once I got rid of the amp it did work nicely with I had no use for it.

At this price point, I would think I couldn't lose if I was unsatisfied and had to sell it.

I think I may just have to buy it and see.


By the way, has anyone here had experience with an outfit called DigitalDJ Gear?
They accept PayPal so at least I would have buyer protection.

Well I bought one and used it tonight for the first time with the whole band. So far I like what it does.

Digital DJ Gear was very easy to work with and did a good job. They sell on eBay and Amazon, but I ordered direct from them online. They offered free shipping, and included two free patch cords and they accept PayPal. I placed my order last Thursday, Thanksgiving day. They shipped it the next day, Friday from New Jersey and it was ready to pickup at my P.O. Box in Washington on Monday.

One thing that is odd is that the rubber pad on the bottom of the pedal exudes a very strong smell - I could smell it as soon as I opened the box. It smells like the back room of your local tire shop magnified by 10. It's not really a problem since you can't smell it while your standing and playing and it seems to be dissipating. I have never experienced this with a pedal before -- has anyone else?
