MFD bridge pickup and regular Legacy middle pickup?

Post by fenderfan »

On a Legacy: Would an MFD bridge pickup work properly along with the Legacy's regular stock middle pickup? Any polarity problems when in the bridge/middle setting?

That's a good question. Since this is not an available option, I don't really know. I do think that the MFD humbucker will likely be too overpowering with the CLF-100 Alnico pickups in the Legacy.

There was a ground plate issue with the ASAT Classic Bluesboy Seth Lover HB which required the bridge MFD single coil to have the ground modified.
Perhaps that might be also true with the MFD HB in the combinations you mention. But, again, I really don't know.

However, I do know that the Jumbo MFD single coil and MFD humbucker sound great together in my GbL_LE2.

I should add that I was referring to the type of MFD pickup found in the S 500.
Thanks.

Oops, my bad assumption, sorry.
I emailed your question to one of my contacts at the factory.

Stayed tuned.

I just heard back back from Spencer and here's his reply:
Craig,

There should be no issue. The two pickups should be in phase with one another.

Spencer
Hope this helps.
