Legacy USA 1999??

Post by BQuick »

Newby here. I just purchased a Legacy with Serial Number CLF17174. From what I can gather it is a 1999 or 2000? Looks like a tobacco burst with Birdseye maple neck. Looking for spec and info on it like what kind of pups etc. Also what are the treble and bass pots? Are they treble and bass roll offs?

For dating your Legacy, see these posts in the G&L Knowledgebase:
How do I determine an instrument's age?
Serial number significance

Here is the standard specification for late 1990's-early 2000's Legacy:

Neck #1 Hard Rock Maple neck with Rosewood or Maple fingerboard, medium jumbo frets
Pickups 3 G&L vintage style Alnico V single-coil pickups
Controls 5-way pickup selector, volume, treble, bass
Bridge G&L Dual Fulcrum vibrato
Tuners Non-locking tuners
Pickguard 3-ply white
For the various optional neck sizes, see: What are the USA neck size options, past and present?
For info on the pickups, see: List of pickups used in G&L guitars
Here's some details on the pots: Legacy Schematic Block Diagram located on G&L's main website. and Can you explain the PTB circuit?

Please do post photos of your Legacy, see the Tutorial on posting photos link in this post: Welcome! Read This First.
Also add it to our G&L Registry, too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Craig! After looking through your site I found a 2001 catalog and I'm pretty sure that is my Legacy (I'll pull the neck off on my next string change). It has the birdseye Maple neck. The scan resolution on the spec page in that brochure will not allow me to read it and after a intensive internet search I can't seem to find it anywhere. Do you know the specs on the 2001 USA Legacy's?

The specs are the same as those in my previous post ("standard specification for late 1990's-early 2000's Legacy"). The specifications have not changed until just recently with the latest (July 1, 2015) Price List.
The change is with the neck size and fretboard radius.

The birdseye Maple neck was an optional neck wood type.

I found the photos I had intended to be uploaded to the 2001 G&L Catalog in the Gallery. I have re-uploaded those better resolution images.

Hope this helps.
