Removing bridge to change bridge PU in ASAT Classic

Post by Encinitastubes »

I love to tinker with pickups. It satisfies my need for change and is also cheaper than buying new guitars. I was curious, when you remove the bridge to change the pickup on an ASAT Classic, do you unscrew and remove all of the saddles or do you simply unscrew the bridge, which causes some friction with the springs on the saddles?

You don't need to remove the saddles although access to the screw between the saddles is sometime problematic. With the strings taken off it is a little easier because you can wiggle stuff out of the way. Instead of taking the strings off, you could also clamp the strings near the nut with a capo, take the neck off, and "fold" the strings backwards to get better access but be careful you do not kink any of the strings when putting everything together again. When you out things together again, also be aware of the ground wire that is clamped under the bridge,

Hope this helps,
