I have had this bass for 20 plus years and have not given it much attention in the last 10. Looking to find more information on this bass to hopefully get it cleaned up and sold to someone who will appreciate it more.
Thanks for any input you may have
The number on the black bridge plate is B011850
Number on gold sticker below that is 256804 431950 3678795

Re: Trying to identify, date, an L2000
The S/N is not listed in the GbL Registry, so without pictures it is hard to glean the model and other info. All I can tell you of the bat is that the bass is pre-1997 due to the S/N and your reference to the black (3-bolt) neck plate, but if you own that bass for 20yrs, you knew that already.
So post some if you can.

B011850 is the serial number. The three numbers on the gold sticker are three US patents used on this bass.BMac613 wrote:I have had this bass for 20 plus years and have not given it much attention in the last 10. For determining the build dates (body and neck) see this post: Serial number significance.
As Jos mentioned, this instrument has not been added to our G&L Registry and we can help determine the details if you could post photos. For posting photos and
adding your bass to our G&L Registry, see this post: Welcome! Read This First.
Once you get the information about your bass, please use our member's only Marketplace to post your Ad.
Looking forward to seeing your L-2000 bass.
Hope this helps.

So 5-11-83 is the completion date. Does the factory logbook say what the body finish was?
Thanks,

That would be Mahogany with a Rosewood board.Craig wrote:HLG,HLG wrote:Try 5-11-83BMac613 wrote:I have had this bass for 20 plus years and have not given it much attention in the last 10. Mahogany body with Clear Gloss finish (aka Rootbeer finish). Please do add this to our G&L Registry.
